Clutch Pedal Spongy Low Pedal Effort C6500, C7500, C8500

Cause

Action

DEFINITION: The clutch pedal may feel spongy, or it requires very little effort to operate.

Review Symptoms - Clutch and perform the necessary inspections.

Clutch cable return spring

The cable return spring is missing or the incorrect spring is installed.

Replace the spring. Refer to Clutch Return Spring Replacement .

Linkage incorrectly adjusted

Adjust the clutch linkage.

Clutch incorrectly installed

Remove the clutch and reinstall it correctly.

Clutch mounting bolts loose or broken

  1. Remove the broken bolts.
  2. Replace the broken or loose bolts and tighten. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Release bearing worn or damaged

Replace the release bearing. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .
