Removal Procedure
  1. If equipped, remove the clutch return spring. Refer to Clutch Return Spring Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 804349 Size: SH
  2. Remove the clutch cable retainer.
  3. Remove the clutch cable from the clutch pedal.

    4. Object Number: 821182 Size: SH
  4. Remove the clutch cable from the front of dash.
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Remove the clutch cable adjustment rod swivel retainer clip and squeeze clutch cable retainer tabs.
  7. Remove the clutch cable adjustment rod swivel from the clutch lever.
  8. If required, remove the fastener and the clutch cable retainer block from the clutch cable and the clutch cable bracket.
  9. Remove the clutch cable from the bracket.

  10. Route the clutch cable out of the vehicle .

  11. If the clutch cable bracket requires removal, on vehicles equipped with a L18 with a MM7/MSG/MSC, remove three bolts and the bracket from the transmission.

    12. Object Number: 857763 Size: SH
  12. If the clutch cable bracket requires removal, on vehicle equipped with a L18 or LB7 with a ML6, remove two bolts and the bracket from the transmission.

  13. If the clutch cable bracket requires removal, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MUT, remove the two bolts and the bracket from the transmission.

    14. Object Number: 857771 Size: SH
  14. If the clutch cable bracket requires removal, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MS9/MT3, remove the two bolts and the bracket from the transmission.

    15. Object Number: 857781 Size: SH
  15. If the clutch cable bracket requires removal, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MK8/MK9, remove the two bolts and the brackets from the transmission.

  16. If the clutch cable bracket requires removal, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MKO/MLO/MM7/MM8/M69, remove the three bolts and the bracket from the transmission.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 821180 Size: SH
  1. Route the clutch cable through the vehicle.
  2. Install the clutch cable to the bracket.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. If required, install the retention block over the clutch cable with the stud portion going through the clutch cable bracket and install the retention block nut.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the retention block nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Lubricate the clutch cable adjustment rod swivel shaft and the clutch lever eyelet with transmission range selector lever lubricant GM P/N 01051344 (Canadian P/N 00993037).
  5. Install the clutch cable adjustment rod swivel to the clutch lever.

  6. Install the clutch cable adjustment rod swivel retainer clip.
  7. Lower the vehicle, if required.

  8. Route the clutch cable through the front of dash.

  9. Install the clutch cable to the clutch pedal.
  10. Install the clutch cable retainer.
  11. Check the clutch adjustment. Refer to Clutch Assembly Adjustment .

    12. Object Number: 857774 Size: SH
  12. If the clutch cable bracket requires installation, on vehicles equipped with a L18 with a MM7/MSG/MPU/MSC, install bracket with three bolts to the transmission.

    13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).

  13. If the clutch cable bracket requires installation, on vehicles equipped with a L18 or LB7 with a ML6, install the bracket to the transmission with two bolts.

    14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 46 N·m (34 lb ft).

  14. If the clutch cable bracket requires installation, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MUT, install the bracket to the transmission with two bolts.

    15. Object Number: 857771 Size: SH
  15. If the clutch cable bracket requires installation, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MUT/MS9/MT3, install the bracket to the transmission with two bolts.

    16. Tighten
    Tighten bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  16. If the clutch cable bracket requires installation, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MK8/MK9, install the bracket to the transmission with two bolts.

    17. Tighten
    Tighten bolts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).

  17. If clutch cable bracket requires installation, on vehicles equipped with a LG4 or LG5 with a MK0/MLO/MM7/MM8/M69, install the bracket to the transmission with three bolts.

    18. Tighten
    Tighten bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).

  18. If equipped, install the clutch return spring. Refer to Clutch Return Spring Replacement .
