Removal Procedure

  1. Block the wheels of the drive axles.

  2. Object Number: 200685  Size: SH
  3. Remove the torque rod bar pin locknuts (7) and the washers (6) at the axle end of the torque rod (5).
  4. Loosen the rebound bolt locknut in the spring hanger (1).
  5. Important: Note the number of shims. Reinstall the shims in the same manner in order to avoid affecting the alignment.

  6. Remove the following components at the spring hanger ends of the torque rod:
  7.    - The torque rod bar pin locknuts (7)
       - The bolts
       - The washers (6)
       - The alignment shims

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 200685  Size: SH
  1. Position the new or rebushed torque rod into the spring seat (4).
  2. Install the washers (6) and the torque rod locknuts (7). Tighten the locknuts by hand.
  3. Position the torque rod on the forward face of the spring hanger legs.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the following components:
  6. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The alignment shims
    • The locknuts

    Tighten

        • Tighten the torque rod locknuts to 241 N·m (178 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rebound bolt locknuts to 82 N·m (61 lb ft).
        • Tighten the torque rod locknuts, at the axle end of the torque rod, to 241 N·m (178 lb ft).
  7. Unblock the wheels.
