Engine Control Module Programming and Setup with RPO LLY
The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
ECM Replacement
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:
| | Important: The option data must be captured before powering down the ECM, and must be restored before performing the ECM reprogramming procedure.
|
| • | Capture and restore the Option Data. |
| | Important: DTC P0606 may set during SPS Programming. Clear the DTC after completing these procedures.
|
| • | Engine Oil Life Remaining--When available, use a scan tool to reset the Engine Oil Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
| • | Transmission Fluid Life Remaining--When available, use a scan tool to reset the Transmission Fluid Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
| • | Fuel Filter Life Remaining--When available, use a scan tool to reset the Fuel Filter Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
ECM Reprogramming
| • | Engine Oil Life Remaining--When available, use a scan tool to reset the Engine Oil Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
| • | Transmission Fluid Life Remaining--When available, use a scan tool to reset the Transmission Fluid Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
| • | Fuel Filter Life Remaining--When available, use a scan tool to reset the Fuel Filter Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
Setup for Component Replacement
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a Turbocharger Learn Procedure must be performed.
| • | Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor. |
| • | Turbocharger Vane Position Control Solenoid Valve |
If any of the following components are replaced, the Fuel Injector Flow Rate Programming procedure must be performed.
| • | One or more fuel injectors. |
| • | The glow plug control module (GPCM) |
