This PI has Been Superseded to update condition and recommendations. Please discard PIT4488

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may state that the right side door will not open from the outside door handle. The inside door handle will work correctly. This may be caused by the pivot screw backing out from the bell crank and the crank become loose enough to move out of position.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Engineering is working on a revised outside door handle assembly. The new handle will have a new left handed screw and a better adhesive for the pivot screw.

If you experience a vehicle that needs a immediate repair. Locate a left handed screw ( From your local hardware ) that will fit in place or the right handed pivot screw and apply a loc-tite adhesive.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
