Inspection Procedure

  1. Release the primary hood latch in order to inspect the operation of the pop-up spring.
  2. Attempt to raise the hood while the hood is in the pop-up position.
  3. • The hood should raise without the hood striker binding against the latch.
    • The secondary latch should engage in order to prevent the hood from being raised.

Adjustment Procedure

  1. Remove the hood latch mounting bracket.
  2. Loosen the nuts that retain the hood latch support to the hood latch mounting bracket.

  3. Object Number: 302977  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Move the hood latch from side to side until the striker enters the center of the latch assembly.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the primary hood latch support bracket mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
