Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 183456  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil filter from the engine block.
  4. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the oil filter gasket with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the oil filter to the engine block.
  3. Tighten the oil filter following the instructions on the filter.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil pan drain plug to the oil pan.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  7. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the crankcase with the recommended capacity and grade of oil.

  10. Operate the engine check for proper oil pressure and for any leaks.
