  1. Install the flywheel.
  2. Install the flywheel spacer, if a flywheel spacer is used.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important: You must thoroughly remove the old thread adhesive from the flywheel bolts and bolt holes. Use a round nylon bristle brush in order to remove the old adhesive.

Apply GM P/N 12345493, or equivalent, to all flywheel bolts. Carefully follow the instructions that are included with the thread locking compound in order to ensure that the bolts are retained properly.

  4. Install the flywheel bolts.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the flywheel bolts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).
