Trailer Brake Control Module Replacement 2500, 3500

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

Trailer Brake Control Module Bolt (Qty: 3)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Procedure

Loosen, but do not remove the bolts. It is not necessary to completely remove the bolts.

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in)

Trailer Brake Control Module

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Slide the module upward to remove.
  3. If installing a new trailer brake control module, program the module. Refer to Control Module References.

Trailer Brake Control Module Replacement 1500

Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Note: Do not remove the spare wheel hoist.

  3. Remove the spare tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Spare Wheel Hoist Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 2127550  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the trailer brake control module electrical connector.
  6. Note: It is not necessary to completely remove the bolts.

  7. Reach above the trailer brake control module and relay bracket and loosen, but do not remove, the trailer brake control module bolts (1).

  8. Object Number: 2127552  Size: SH
  9. Slide the trailer brake control module (1) toward the center of the vehicle and remove the trailer brake control module.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2127552  Size: SH
  1. If installing a new trailer brake control module, hand start the 3 trailer brake control module bolts.
  2. Position the trailer brake control module to the frame bracket.
  3. Slide the trailer brake control module (1) toward the left frame rail.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2127550  Size: SH
  5. Tighten the trailer brake control module bolts (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Connect the trailer brake control module electrical connector.
  8. Install the spare tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Spare Wheel Hoist Replacement.
  9. If installing a new trailer brake control module, program the module. Refer to Control Module References.
