Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Regular Cab

Component Name

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the front assist handle. Refer to Front Assist Handle Replacement .
  3. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the sunshade assemblies. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Remove the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  6. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  7. Remove the body lock pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Replacement .
  8. Remove the front seat headrest.

Coat Hook Assembly (Qty: 2)

Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .

Sunshade Anchor (Qty: 2)

Headliner Trim Panel Assembly

Procedure

  1. Prior to removal, note the routing of the wire harness to aid in reassembly and to ensure proper installation.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  3. Remove the sunshade assemblies. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  4. Remove the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  5. Remove the roof rail assist handles. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
  6. Remove the body lock pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Replacement .
  7. Remove the sunroof finishing lace, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
  8. Remove the dome lamp, if equipped. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .
  9. Remove the second seat overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Roof Rear Console Replacement .
  10. Remove either the driver or passenger front seat belt assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Pretensioner Replacement - Front .

Headliner Trim Panel Assembly

Procedure

  1. Remove the front seat headrest to aid in removal of headliner from vehicle.
  2. Prior to removal, note the routing of the wire harness to aid in reassembly and to ensure proper installation.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

Notice: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  3. Remove the sunshade assemblies. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  4. Remove the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  5. Remove the roof rail assist handles. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
  6. Remove the center pillar upper molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  7. Remove the body lock pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Replacement .
  8. Remove the sunroof finishing lace, if equipped. Refer to Sunroof Opening Trim Finish Lace Replacement .
  9. Remove the dome lamp, if equipped. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .
  10. Remove the second seat overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Roof Rear Console Replacement .
  11. Remove the coat hook , if equipped. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  12. Remove the front seat bucket . Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  13. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  14. Remove the rear seat. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .

Headliner Trim Panel Assembly

Procedure

  1. Prior to removal, note the routing of the wire harness to aid in reassembly and to ensure proper installation.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. With the aid of an assistant bend the headliner slightly through the left rear door.
  4. The headliner rear edge will go through lower rear corner of the door opening first with interior headliner side facing the front of vehicle.
  5. Side edges of the headliner may be slightly scuffed during installation and will be covered by the upper garnish trim when it's installed.
