EI07139 - HVAC Performance, A/C Not Cool, A/C Compressor Noise (Perform A/C System Diagnosis)

This bulletin is being revised to end the need for technician feedback and to provide corrective action. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-01-39-004 (Section 01 -- HVAC).

Some customers may comment that the vehicle's A/C is not cooling or is not cold enough and/or the A/C compressor is noisy.

DO NOT REPLACE THE A/C COMPRESSOR.

GM Engineering has determined approximately 85% of all reported A/C system performance issues are a result of related A/C system components, not specific to the A/C compressor.

Follow the A/C System diagnostics found in SI prior to making a repair to the A/C System.

Select the appropriate labor operation from the Labor Time Guide, based on the repair made to correct the customer's concern.
