The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment that when French is selected on the DIC the navigation radio will revert back to English after the ignition key is cycled one or more times. The DIC will remain in French, but the radio will be displaying English. This condition may be caused by the navigation system software and the navigation system software will require an update.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Technicians are to verify the need for a navigation radio software update and perform the software update if required. This procedure should only be performed on the U3U or UVB Navigation radios with the concern listed above.

Please follow the following instructions to update the radio.

  1. Obtain the updated map data/navigation software update disc (P/N: 25891972) from the GM Navigation Disc Center by telephone at 1-877-NAV-DISC (1-877-628-3472)
  2. Cycle the ignition to on with the engine off. (Make sure vehicles battery is fully charged)
  3. Remove the map disc (If Installed) from radio and install the software update disc in the same slot. Note (This is the CD slot that is behind the screen.)
  4. The "Preparing to load system software" message will appear on the screen along with a progress bar. When the green progress bar reaches the end, the software update is complete and the "Eject "soft key will appear on the screen.
  5. Remove the software update disc and reinstall the customers map disc. (If a navigation disc was removed in step 3)
  6. Cycle the ignition to OFF.
  7. Open and close the driver's door and then wait for 60 seconds.
  8. Verify the concern is resolved.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
