The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment on a grind, growl, squeal or whine noise when the transmission shifts into Reverse, Third and Fifth gear. This noise will not occur in the other gear ranges.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the transmission was built prior to 2/14/2007 Julian date 7045 this condition may be caused by the incorrect 2-6 and 3-5-R clutch hub (64) being installed in the transmission. The 1-2-3-4 & 3-5-R clutch assembly (51) should be disassembled and inspected. If the 3-5-R friction plates (402) show damage to the tangs please contact TAC at the number you have been provided.

Note:  Transmission identification can be found by referencing eSI document 1614775.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
