The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

SIR lamp stays on steady after a SDM or BCM has been replaced and a DTC B1001 code current in the SDM. When you first turn the ignition switch to the RUN position, the SDM compares the restraints ID stored in the SDM to the restraints ID stored in the body control module (BCM). If the restraints ID stored in the SDM does not match the restraints ID stored in the BCM, or the VIN information stored in the SDM does not match the VIN information stored in the PCM/VCM a B1001 DTC will set.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If an SDM or BCM is replaced they must learn the restraints ID. To learn the restraints ID a 10 minute V.T.D. Vehicle Theft Deterrent Learn must be performed with the Tech 2.

Note: A 30 minute Theft relearn will not allow the SDM or BCM to learn the restraints ID.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
