The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

After installation of a P/N 17801346 (GM Performance Parts air induction kit), some customers may comment that the hood contacts the air cleaner lid if the hood is closed with excessive force.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Ensure the hood stops and latch are properly adjusted. Ensure that the air cleaner box is fully seated. If OK perform the following adjustments:

  1. Remove air cleaner box 1
  2. Remove the air cleaner mounting tray.
  3. Remove the air cleaner tray support brace.

  4. Object Number: 2030564 Size: SH
  5. Elongate the two forward mounting holes an additional 5 mm so that the bracket can be lowered.

  6. Object Number: 2030565 Size: SH
  7. Reinstall the support brace 5mm lower than the original position.
  8. Manipulate the three sheet metal mounting points so that the tabs are forced down for additional clearance.

  9. Object Number: 2030565 Size: SH
  10. Reinstall the air cleaner mounting tray.
  11. Reinstall air box.
  12. Inspect for proper hood clearance.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
