DTC Descriptor

DTC P2534: Ignition 1 Switch Circuit Low Voltage

Circuit/System Description

The hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM) uses ignition 1 circuit terminal voltage to monitor the 12V system voltage. Ignition 1 circuit voltage also powers several of the internal drive motor generator power inverter control module (PIM) components.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The control module has detected ignition 1 circuit voltage is 2V or less.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • DTC P2534 is a Type A DTC.
    • The HPCM commands the engine OFF.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P2534 is a Type A DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Clear the DTC information.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF for 1 minute.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Retest for DTC P2534.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect PIM connector X1.
  2. Ignition ON, test the voltage on the ignition 1 circuit, between connector X1 terminal 20 and ground. The voltage should be within 0.5V of actual battery voltage.
  3. If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PIM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
