Removal Procedure
- Raise the hood (1).
- Support the hood at the front and the rear.
- Remove the hood ground strap and nut.
- Release the harness and the lamp from the hood.
- Remove the bolt holding the hood hinge to the hood link assembly (7).
- Lower and support the hood.
- Remove the outboard sections of the cowl vent grille panel.
- With an assistant, remove the pivot bolt (3).
- With an assistant, remove the hood from the vehicle.
- Remove the hood hinge from the hood. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
Installation Procedure
- Install the hood hinge to the hood. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
- With an assistant, install the hood (1) to the vehicle.
- Install the pivot bolt (3).
- Lower the hood.
- Install the outboard section of the cowl vent grille panel.
- Raise the hood.
- Install the bolt (7) holding the hinge to the link assembly.
- Install the hood ground strap and nut. Clip the hangers and the lamp in place.
- Lower the hood.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the pivot bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the hinge to link assembly bolt (5) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the ground strap nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
