Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect 5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2

Caution: To help avoid personal injury, always disconnect the 36V generator battery carrier before doing any work to the generator battery carrier system. To disconnect the generator battery carrier, turn the engine off and turn OFF the service disconnect switch, which is located on the passenger side of the generator battery carrier.

Caution: To help avoid personal injury, disable the 36V system anytime you perform service work on or around the generator battery carrier. The 36V system will still be active after you have disabled the generator battery carrier.

Caution: To help avoid personal injury, always treat the 3-phase cable and connectors as if voltage is present and as if the surface of all parts of the cable is hot.

Disconnect Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Open the rear door.
  3. Remove the generator battery carrier access panel.

  4. Object Number: 1257470  Size: SH
  5. Rotate the battery disconnect key to the horizontal position.

  6. Object Number: 869197  Size: SH
  7. Raise the rear seat.
  8. Remove the plastic retainers from the generator battery carrier trim cover (1).
  9. Remove the generator battery carrier trim cover.

  11. Disconnect the 36-volt positive/negative cable electrical connector (4).

Connect Procedure

  1. Connect the 36-volt positive/negative cable electrical connector (4).

  2. Object Number: 869197  Size: SH
  3. Install the generator battery carrier trim cover.
  4. Install the plastic retainers to the generator battery carrier trim cover (1).
  5. Lower the rear seat.

  6. Object Number: 1257471  Size: SH
  7. Rotate the battery disconnect key to the vertical position.

  8. Object Number: 1257467  Size: SH
  9. Install the generator battery carrier access panel.
  10. Close the rear door.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
