Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement - Right Side Rear with E24

Preliminary Procedure

    Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.

    Warning: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning in the Preface section.

    Warning: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Remove the rear door step mat. Refer to Rear Side Door Step Mat Replacement.

Side Impact Inflatable Restraint Sensor - Right

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Loosen the side impact inflatable restraint sensor bolts. (Qty: 2)
  3. Remove the side impact inflatable restraint sensor from the vehicle.

Tip
The bolts are an integral part of the sensor and should remain with the sensor.

Tighten
7 N·m (62 lb in)

Tip

Tighten
