Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 1938437  Size: SH
  3. Remove the coil wiring harness bracket nut (1).
  4. Remove the coil wiring harness bracket and set aside.

  5. Object Number: 1938446  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector (1).
  7. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose from the vacuum fitting.

  8. Object Number: 869710  Size: SH
  9. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve hose from the valve cover and rocker cover.

  10. Object Number: 869729  Size: SH
  11. Remove the rocker arm cover bolts.
  12. Remove and discard the rocker arm cover bolt grommets, if necessary.
  13. Remove the rocker arm cover.

  14. Object Number: 328573  Size: SH
  15. Remove and discard the rocker arm cover gasket.
  16. Clean and inspect the rocker arm cover, if necessary. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection.

Installation Procedure

Note: Do not reuse the rocker cover gasket or the rocker arm cover bolt grommets.


    Object Number: 328573  Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW rocker arm cover gasket to the cover.
  2. Install NEW rocker arm cover bolt grommets to the cover, if necessary.

  3. Object Number: 869729  Size: SH
  4. Install the rocker arm cover.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Install the rocker arm cover bolts and tighten to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  7. Object Number: 869710  Size: SH
  8. Install the PCV valve hose to the valve cover and rocker cover.

  9. Object Number: 1938446  Size: SH
  10. Connect the power brake booster vacuum hose to the vacuum fitting.
  11. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector (1).

  12. Object Number: 310241  Size: SH
  13. Install the coil wiring harness bracket.
  14. Install the coil wiring harness bracket nut and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
  15. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
