Subject:OnStar® deactivated Returned to Stock New Vehicle Inventory.

Models:All GM Vehicles Returned to Stock & Equipped with OnStar® (RPO UE1)

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

OnStar® has recently discovered a software anomaly affecting vehicles that have been returned to dealer stock, following an incomplete sale of the vehicle. If a customer delivery record was created and the vehicle subsequently returned to stock, the OnStar® system may have been inadvertently disabled. Records indicate many of these returned to stock (RTS) vehicles still remain in dealer inventories. Due to the nature of disablement, these vehicles cannot be contacted by OnStar® and will require a blue OnStar® button press to enable the necessary actions to take place will correct this condition.

Recommendation/Instructions:

OnStar® will notify, by mail, affected customers who may have since purchased one these previously returned to stock vehicles with directions to perform a blue button press to complete the vehicle and account configuration process.

Dealers are requested to perform a blue button press on inventoried vehicles. A list of affected vehicles is going out to dealers VIA DCS messaging. Additional information is forthcoming.

To check the OnStar system simply perform a blue button press. If the "Connecting to Onstar" message is immediately heard the system is fully configured and no further action is required. If an automated message is heard when the button is pressed, the vehicle requires a reconfiguration and a second button press will connect the vehicle to an advisor at the OnStar Center. You will be transferred to the technical support group, who will assist you in the configuration of the customer's vehicle.

No part replacement is required and the configuration process will complete the vehicle and account set-up process.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
