This PI has been revised to include the 2006 model year. Please discard PIT3642.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The remote verification is inoperative when using the RKE to lock the doors. If there is a door ajar input to the BCM that indicates a door is open, the remote verification will be inoperative. The normal operation of the remote verification is listed below.
Press the LOCK button in order to perform the following functions:
- Lock all of the doors.
- Flash the parking lamps.
- Turn the interior lamps on briefly.
Press the LOCK button again within 5 seconds of the first press in order to perform the following functions:
- Chirp the horn.
- Flash the parking lamps.
- Immediately turn off the interior lamps.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The Tech 2 can be used to monitor the door ajar switches. The Tech 2 will list the following door ajar switches.
| • | Drivers Door Ajar switch. (This input is for the left front door) |
| • | Passenger Door ajar switch. (This input is for the right front door) |
| • | Cargo Door ajar switch. (This input is for both the left and right side doors and the back cargo doors) |
Repair the door ajar switch and/or wiring as needed.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
