Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  3. Remove the retaining nut (1) from the air cleaner outlet .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct (2) from the throttle body assembly.

  5. Object Number: 281851 Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the harness connector of the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor .
  7. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.
  8. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.

Installation Procedure

    Notice:

       • Handle the MAF sensor carefully.
       • Do not drop the MAF sensor in order to prevent damage to the MAF sensor.
       • Do not damage the screen located on the air inlet end of the MAF.
       • Do not touch the sensing elements.
       • Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements.
       • Use a small amount of a soap based solution in order to aid in the installation.

  1. Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the MAF sensor.

  2. Object Number: 281851 Size: SH
  3. Connect the IAT sensor harness connector.
  4. Install the air cleaner outlet duct (2) on the throttle body assembly.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Tighten the retaining nut (1).
  7. Tighten
Tighten the nut 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
