Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM), upon receipt of a cargo unlock command from the remote keyless entry (RKE), will switch the CARGO UNLCK relay control circuit to battery positive voltage. This will energize the CARGO UNLCK relay activating the cargo door latch.

Conditions for Running the DTC

An UNLOCK command from the RKE.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BCM detects a fault in the relay control circuit while commanding the CARGO UNLCK relay.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The cargo door will not unlock from the RKE.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

The cargo door latch will still continue to function normally from the driver, passenger or cargo door lock switch.

Circuit/System Verification

Command the cargo door to UNLOCK by pressing the cargo button on the RKE, the cargo door should perform the UNLOCK function.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the body fuse block.
  2. Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 22 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 19 and ground
  5. Ignition ON, command the cargo door to UNLOCK by pressing the cargo button on the RKE. The test lamp should illuminate during the UNLOCK command.
  6. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  7. If all circuits test normal, replace the body fuse block.

Repair Instructions
