Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to SIR Warning in the Preface section.

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  3. Remove the drivers knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement.
  4. Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement.
  5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement.
  6. Remove the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.
  7. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  8. Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
  9. Remove the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
  10. Remove the passenger knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement.
  11. Remove the passenger knee bolster bracket. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement.
  12. Remove the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement.
  13. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement.
  14. Remove the instrument panel SIR module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
  15. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  16. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement.
  17. Remove the heater and the A/C control. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement.
  18. Remove the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
  19. Rotate the I/P carrier out and downward in order to gain access to the HVAC ducts and the electrical harness.

  20. Object Number: 301649  Size: SH
  21. Remove the bolts that retain the air ducts to the I/P carrier.
  22. Remove the HVAC air distribution duct from the I/P carrier. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement.
  23. Note the location and positioning of the Instrument Panel Wiring harness.
  24. Remove the wiring harness from the I/P carrier.

  26. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 328139  Size: SH
  1. Position the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
  2. Install the wiring harness to the I/P carrier as noted in the removal procedure.

  3. Object Number: 301649  Size: SH
  4. Install the HVAC air distribution duct to the I/P carrier. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement.
  5. Carefully rotate the I/P carrier up and install the additional components.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Install the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
  8. Install the heater and the A/C control. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement.
  9. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement.
  10. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  11. Install the instrument panel SIR module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
  12. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement.
  13. Install the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement.
  14. Install the passenger knee bolster bracket. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement.
  15. Install the passenger knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement.
  16. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
  17. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
  18. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  19. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.
  20. Install the I/P cluster trim plate bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement.
  21. Install the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement.
  22. Install the drivers knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement.
  23. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  24. Connect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  25. Refer to Control Module References for programing and set up of the modules and instrument cluster that were removed.
