Removal Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 407982  Size: SH
  1. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 309303  Size: SH
  5. Through the wheel well, disconnect the power brake booster outlet hose (1) from the power steering gear (2).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the water deflector from the fender.
  8. Remove the power brake booster outlet hose (1) from the power brake booster (2).
  9. Remove the power brake booster outlet hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: The inlet and outlet hoses must not be twisted during installation. Do not bend or distort the inlet or outlet hoses to make installation easier. Failure to follow these procedures could result in component damage.

  1. Route the hose in the same position the hose occupied prior to removal.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power brake booster outlet hose (1) to the power brake booster (2). Hand tighten.
  4. Raise the vehicle.

  5. Object Number: 309303  Size: SH
  6. Through the wheel well, connect the power brake booster outlet hose to the power steering gear (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the hose fitting to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Tighten the power brake booster outlet hose at the power brake booster.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the hose fitting to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  11. Install the water deflector to the fender.
  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
