  1. Turn OFF the ignition, with the key in the ignition.
  2. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Is the vehicle equipped with a chime module (UL5)?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the radio ON.
  2. Adjust the radio balance and fade to the left front speakers.

Does the speaker operate properly?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Key in Ignition parameter in the body control module (BCM) Inputs data list.

Does the Key in Ignition parameter display Yes?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition, with the key in the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C4.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch and battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the driver door ajar switch.
  3. Place the key in the ignition.
  4. Connect a 3-ampere fused jumper between the signal circuit of the driver door ajar switch and the ground circuit of the driver door ajar switch.

Does the chime sound?

Test the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch for an open, for a high resistance, or for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the ignition key alarm switch for an open or for a high resistance. Refer Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
