J 42450-A Hub Cleaning Kit

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Notice: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

  4. Remove the caliper from the mounting bracket and support the caliper with heavy mechanic's wire or equivalent. DO NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  5. Remove the wheel bearings. Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.

  6. Object Number: 166  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rotor from the vehicle.
  8. Inspect and clean all of the parts. Replace any parts as necessary.
  9. Refinish the rotor if required. Refer to Brake Rotor Refinishing .

Installation Procedure

  1. Use the J 42450-A in order to clean any rust or corrosion from the rotor to wheel mating surface.

  2. Object Number: 166  Size: SH
  3. Install the rotor to the vehicle.
  4. Install the wheel bearings and seal. Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.
  5. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  7. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Depress the brake pedal.
  10. Burnish the front brake rotors and pads. Refer to Brake Pad and Rotor Burnishing .
