Do any indicators illuminate when the chime sounds?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Open the driver door.

Does the chime activate?

With the key in the ignition switch, disconnect the left front door jamb switch.

Does the chime stop?

With the left front door closed, test the drivers door switch signal for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the key-in-ignition warning switch for continuity with the key removed.

Is continuity present?

  1. Disconnect the key-in-ignition warning switch.
  2. Test the key-in-ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the lamps on input circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Replace the key-in warning switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard or to Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Replace the left front door jamb switch. Refer to Door Jamb Switch Replacement in Doors.
