Filler Tube Replacement Passenger/Cargo Van

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 34269  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Clean all the fuel pipe and hose connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting in order to avoid contamination of the fuel system.
  3. Remove the fuel filler cap.
  4. Drain the fuel below the level of the fuel tank fill hose. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. Remove the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pipe housing (3) bolts.
  6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Loosen the fuel fill hose to fuel fill pipe clamp.
  8. Disconnect the fuel fill hose from the fuel fill pipe.
  9. Remove the fuel fill pipe.
  10. Cap the open end of the fuel fill hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Uncap the fuel fill hose.
  2. Install the fuel fill pipe to the fuel fill hose.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Align the fuel fill pipe to the fuel fill pipe housing (3).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp to 2.75 N·m (24 lb in).

  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Install the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pipe housing bolts.
  8. Refill the fuel tank.
  9. Install the fuel filler cap.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

Removal Procedure

  8. Disconnect the fuel fill hose (6) from the fuel fill pipe (5).
  9. Remove the fuel fill pipe.
  10. Cap the open end of the fuel fill hose.

  2. Install the fuel fill pipe (5) to the fuel fill hose (6).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.
