Inspect that the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) (Gas) or the Vehicle Speed Sensor Buffer (VSSB) (Diesel) is correctly calibrated for the correct axle ratio and the correct tire size.

  1. Connect a scan tool in order to monitor vehicle speed.
  2. Perform a drive test over a known distance.
  3. The distance should be at least 8 km (5 miles) or more. The speed should be 80-110 km/h (50-65 mph) if practical.

  4. Use a scan tool in order to compare the indicated speed to the speedometer indication.
  5. Record the initial and final odometer reading and the actual distance driven.

While at test speed, are the scan tool and speedometer indications within specified value of each other?
