1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
2. Remove the A/C compressor from the mounting bracket, if equipped, and set it aside. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC.
3. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
4. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .
5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
6. Remove the valve rocker arms and push rods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
7. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement in Steering.
8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement .
9. Disconnect the wiring bracket from the rear of the right cylinder head.



10. For the right side cylinder head, remove the following components:

Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

10.2.

Remove the generator mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement .

10.3.

Remove the oil indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .




11. Remove the sixteen cylinder head bolts.
12. Remove the cylinder head and the gasket. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .
13. Clean all sealing surfaces. Refer to Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect .

Tools Required
J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Left) in engine mechanical.
2. Install the valve rocker arms and the push rods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .



3. For the left side cylinder head, install the power steering pump mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement .
4. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement in Steering.
5. Connect the electrical connector to the power steering pump.



6. For the right side cylinder head, install the generator mounting bracket. Refer to Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement .
7. Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .
8. Install Oil Indicator Tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement in engine mechanical.
9. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
10. Install the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
11. Install the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC.
12. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
