Cruise Control Does Not Resume, Accel, Tap Up or Down Gasoline Engine

Was the Cruise Control System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the connector at the cruise control module.
  2. Disconnect connector C200 at the steering column.
  3. Connect a J 39200 between the cruise control module connector cavity C and connector C200 pin A15 for CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 4

Repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) between connector C200 and the cruise control module.

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Cruise Control System Check

  1. Place the cruise control switch in the ON position.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between connector C200 cavity A13 for the CKT 41 (BRN) pigtail wire and cavity A15 for the CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) pigtail wire.
  3. Actuate the RESUME/ACCEL position on the cruise control switch.

Is continuity present?

Replace the cruise control module. Refer to Cruise Control Module Replacement .

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?

Inspect for an open in the CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) pigtail wire in the steering column.

Did you find an open?

--

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in the CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) pigtail wire in the steering column.

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?

Replace the multifunction lever with includes the cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control Switch Replacement .

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?

  1. Disconnect connector C200 at the steering column.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between connector C200 cavity A13 for the CKT 41 (BRN) pigtail wire and cavity A15 for the CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) pigtail wire.
  3. Slide the cruise control slider switch to the RESUME/ACCEL position.
  4. Observe the test lamp.

Is continuity present?

Inspect for an open in the CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) pigtail wire in the steering column.

Did you find an open?

--

Go to Step 4

Repair the open in the CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) pigtail wire in the steering column.

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?

  1. Disconnect connector C1 at the powertrain control module (PCM).
  2. Connect a J 39200 between the PCM connector C1 cavity D10 and connector C200 pin A15 for CKT 87 (GRY/BLK).

Does the test lamp light?

Replace the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls - 6.5L.

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?

Repair the open in CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) between connector C200 and the PCM.

Does the cruise still not resume, accelerate or tap up?
