  1. Disconnect the connector at the horns.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between connector cavity A of the horns and B+.

Does the test lamp light?

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between connector cavity A of the horns and ground G103.

Are the horns still inoperative?

  1. Connect an unpowered test lamp between connector cavity B of the horns and ground.
  2. Depress the horn switch.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 5

Replace the horn assembly. Refer to Horn Replacement

Are the horns still inoperative?

  1. Remove the horn relay from the socket at the underhood (UH) fuse-relay center.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between socket cavity E7 of the horn relay and connector cavity B of the horn.
  3. Test for continuity.

Is continuity present?

Repair the open in CKT 29 (DK GRN) between the horn relay and the horns assembly.

Are the horns still inoperative?

Connect an unpowered test lamp between socket cavity E9 of the horn relay and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

Repair the open in CKT 740 (ORN) between the horn fuse and the horn relay.

Are the horns still inoperative?

Connect an unpowered test lamp between socket cavity D9 of the horn relay and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

Repair the open in CKT 740 (ORN) between splice S127 and the horn relay.

Are the horns still inoperative?

Connect a fused jumper wire between socket cavity E9 and cavity E7 of the horn relay.

Do the horns sound?

Replace the horn relay.

  1. Connect an unpowered test lamp between socket cavity D7 and cavity D9 of the horn relay.
  2. Depress the horn switch.

Did the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the connector at the horn switch. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Standard.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between socket cavity D7 of the horn relay and the connector power lead of the horn switch.
  3. Test for continuity.

Is continuity present?

Test for continuity of grounding at the horn switch.
