Determine if there are diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the vehicle speed sensor per the applicable driveability and emissions section.

Are there DTCs present?

Perform diagnostics as per the applicable drivability and emissions section.

Are all DTCs cleared?

--

Go to Step 4

Determine if the vehicle's engine type is gasoline or diesel.

Is the engine type gasoline?

  1. Disconnect the radio C2 connector.
  2. Disconnect the vehicle control module C4 connector.
  3. Disconnect the Passlock module connector.
  4. Disconnect the cruise control connector.
  5. Connect a digital multimeter J 39200 between radio connector C2, cavity 16 for CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

  1. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor buffer connector.
  2. Disconnect the Passlock module connector.
  3. Disconnect the radio C2 connector.
  4. Connect a J 39200 between the vehicle speed sensor buffer connector cavity 14 and the radio connector C2, cavity 16 for CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT).

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 9

Repair the short to ground in CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) between the vehicle control module, the Passlock module, the cruise control module, and the radio.

Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Radio/Audio System Check

Connect a J 39200 between radio connector C2, cavity 16 and vehicle control module connector C4, cavity 3 for CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT).

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 12

  1. Remove the radio.
  2. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  3. Send the radio in for repair.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Radio/Audio System Check

Repair the open in CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) between vehicle speed sensor and the radio.

Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Determine if the cruise control system operates.
  2. If required, reconnect all the connectors and test drive the vehicle in order to inspect the cruise control system operation.

Does the cruise control system operate?

Repair the open in CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) between the vehicle control module and the radio.

Refer to Wiring Repairs .
