Normal Vehicle Use

These schedules are for vehicles that:

    • Carry passengers and cargo within recommended limits. These limits are listed on the vehicles tire loading information label located on the drivers door.
    • Are driven on reasonable road surfaces within legal driving limits.
    • Use the recommended fuel.

Selecting the Right Maintenance Schedule

Determine which of the two schedules is right for your vehicle. Refer to the definitions of maintenance schedules below.

Important: Additional maintenance recommendations are in this subsection. Also refer to Owner Checks and Services , Periodic Maintenance Inspection .

Short Trip/City Maintenance Definition

Follow the Short Trip/City Maintenance Schedule if any one of these conditions is true for your vehicle:

    • Most trips are less than 8 to 16 km (5 to 10 mi). This is particularly important when outside temperatures are below freezing.
    • Most trips include extensive idling (such as frequent driving in stop-and-go traffic).
    • Most trips are through dusty areas.
    • You frequently tow a trailer or use a carrier on top of your vehicle.
    • If the vehicle is used for delivery service, police, taxi or other commercial application.

Short Trip Summary

5 000 km (3,000 mi)

    • Engine Oil and Filter Change (or 3 months, whichever occurs first).
    • Lubricate the chassis (or 3 months, whichever occurs first).
    • Drive Axle Service (or 3 months, whichever occurs first).

10 000 km (6,000 mi)

Tire Rotation.

25 000 km (15,000 mi)

    • Engine Air Cleaner Filter Inspection (if driving in dusty conditions).
    • Front Wheel Bearing Repack (2WD only).
    • Automatic Transmission Service

50 000 km (30,000 mi)

    • Engine Air Cleaner Filter Replacement.
    • Fuel Filter Replacement.

83 000 km (50,000 mi)

    • Automatic Transmission Service (normal conditions).
    • Transfer Case Fluid Change.

100 000 km (60,000 mi)

Engine Accessory Drive Belt Inspection.

166 000 km (100,000 mi)

    • Spark Plug Wire Inspection. Spark Plug Replacement.
    • Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve Inspection.

240 000 km (150,000 mi)

Cooling System Service (or every 60 months, whichever occurs first).

Long Trip/Highway Maintenance Definition

Follow this maintenance schedule only if none of the conditions from the Short Trip/City Maintenance Schedule is true. Do not use this schedule if the vehicle is used for trailer towing, driven in a dusty area or used off paved roads. Use the Short Trip/City schedule for these conditions.

Long Trip Summary

12 500 km (7,500 mi)

    • Engine Oil and Filter Change (or every 12 months, whichever occurs first).
    • Chassis Lubrication (or every 12 months, whichever occurs first).
    • Drive Axle Service.
    • Tire Rotation.

25 000 km (15,000 mi)

Automatic Transmission Service (sever conditions only).

50 000 km (30,000 mi)

    • Fuel Filter Replacement.
    • Engine Air Cleaner Filter Replacement.
    • Front Wheel Bearing Repack (2WD only) (or at each brake relining, whichever occurs first).
    • Automatic Transmission Service (normal conditions).
    • Transfer Case Fluid Change.

100 000 km (60,000 mi)

Engine Accessory Drive Belt Inspection.

166 000 km (100,000 mi)

    • Spark Plug Wire Inspection.
    • Spark Plug Replacement.
    • Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve Inspection.

240 000 km (150,000 mi)

Cooling System Service (or every 60 months, whichever occurs first).
