The charging system warning lamp appears on the instrument cluster as a battery symbol. The battery symbol turns on when the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the engine is not running. The battery symbol turns off when the engine is running, if the charging system is functioning properly. A charging system malfunction is indicated when the charging system warning lamp is on with the engine running. This warning lamp glows when a charging system malfunction occurs or when system voltage is too high or too low.
