Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature gauge sensor.
  2. Connect 1 red lead of a J 33431-C to the engine coolant temperature sender CKT 35 (DK GRN) cavity A and the other lead to ground.
  3. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  4. Adjust the resistance dial to 1305ohms.
  5. The gauge should go to COLD.
  6. Adjust the resistance dial to 49.5ohms.
  7. The temperature gauge should go to HOT.

Does the temperature gauge indicate correctly?

Replace the engine coolant temperature gauge sensor. Refer to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement in Engine Cooling.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect for an open in CKT 35 (DK GRN) between the engine coolant temperature gauge sensor and the instrument cluster.

Did you find an open?

Repair the open in CKT 35 (DK GRN) between the engine coolant temperature gauge sensor and the instrument cluster.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the I/P Cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
