J 41712 Oil Pressure Switch Socket

Removal Procedure

    Important: Clean the area around the sensor and Distributor before removal. Do not allow debris to enter the engine.

  1. Remove the distributor. Refer to Distributor Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 348085  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the engine oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the engine oil pressure sensor using the J 41712 .

  5. Object Number: 348087  Size: SH

    Important: Note the alignment of the engine oil pressure sensor fitting prior to removal.

  6. Remove the engine oil pressure sensor fitting, if necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 348087  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the threads of the fitting and/or the engine oil pressure sensor.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the engine oil pressure sensor fitting, if removed.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil pressure sensor fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the engine oil pressure sensor.
  6. Tighten
    Using the J 41712 , tighten the engine oil pressure sensor to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Connect the engine oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
  8. Install the distributor. Refer to Distributor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  9. Check and adjust engine oil level.
