OIL LEAK TRANSFER CASE/O RING SERVICE PROCEDURE

SOME 1982 AND 1983 THM 700-R4 TRANSMISSIONS MAY EXHIBIT AN OIL LEAK AT THE TRANSMISSION CASE TO TRANSFER CASE ADAPTER AREA ON SOME FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. THIS OIL LEAK MAY BE CAUSED BY A LACK OF COMPRESSION OF THE "O" RING SEAL USED ON THE TRANSFER CASE ADAPTER. WHEN SERVICING ANY 1982 OR 1983 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH A THM 700-R4 TRANSMISSION FOR AN OIL LEAK AT THE TRANSMISSION TO TRANSFER CASE ADAPTER AREA, INSTALL TWO "0" RINGS, PART NUMBER 1358899 ON THE TRANSFER CASE ADAPTER TO CORRECT THE OIL LEAK.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
