  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Disable the window lockout function if equipped.
  3. Operate the passenger windows from both the passenger window switch and the master window switch.

Does the passenger window operate properly from both switches?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Does the passenger window operate from the master window switch and not the passenger window switch?

Go to Step 5

Does the passenger window operate from the passenger window switch and not the master switch?

Is the vehicle equipped with a window lockout switch?

  1. Disconnect the passenger power window switch
  2. Connect a test lamp between the master switch lockout signal circuit, 4-door vehicles, and a good ground at the passenger power window switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 20

  1. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the retained accessory power (RAP) fuse supply voltage circuit and a good ground at the passenger power window switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the side window lockout switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the RAP fuse supply voltage circuit and a good ground at the side window lockout switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the passenger power window motor.
  2. Connect a test lamp between power window motor up circuit at the passenger power window motor harness connector and a good ground.
  3. Operate the passenger power window in the up direction from the power window master switch.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between power window motor down circuit at the passenger power window motor harness connector and a good ground.
  2. Operate the passenger power window in the down direction from the power window master switch.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between power window motor up and down circuits at the passenger power window motor harness connector.
  2. Operate the passenger power window in the up and down directions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

  1. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power window master switch up signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and a good ground.
  3. Operate the passenger power window in the up direction from the power window master switch.

  1. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power window master switch down signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and a good ground.
  3. Operate the passenger power window in the down direction from the power window master switch.
