The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The trip odometer resets during cranking or an ignition cycle.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The cluster needs to be sent to the local exchange center for repairs. Make sure the exchange center is aware of the trip odometer resetting, as there is a revised circuit board.

After the cluster has been replaced, it will be necessary to perform the following procedures:

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position
  2. Press the trip reset button twice, or make sure the odometer is on "trip" and not the regular odometer.
  3. While the odometer is in the "trip" function, hold the trip reset button in the down position for 20 seconds.
  4. Verify this procedure by putting mileage on the trip odometer and turn the truck off. Restart the truck or cycle the ignition, if the same mileage is stored the vehicle is repaired.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
