Customer Satisfaction - AISIN ATF LEVEL GAUGE INCORRECT LENGTH

Subject:05555 -- AISIN ATF LEVEL GAUGE INCORRECT LENGTH

Models:2005-2006 CHEVROLET W4500/W5500 CREW CAB
2005-2006 GMC W4500/W5500 CREW CAB
2005-2006 ISUZU NPR-HD/NQR CREW CAB
EQUIPPED WITH 4HK1T DIESEL ENGINE AND AISIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Condition

Certain 2005-2006 Chevrolet W4500/W5500 Crewcab, GMC W4500/W5500 Crewcab, and Isuzu NPR-HD/NQR Crewcab vehicles, equipped with a 4HK1T diesel engine and Aisin Automatic Transmission, have an automatic transmission fluid (ATF) level gauge with an incorrect length. If the fluid is checked/adjusted with this level gauge, it may result in an overfill condition. Under freeway driving and long uphill conditions, the ATF may overheat. If the vehicle is driven after the ATF Temperature light illuminates, internal damage to the transmission may result.

Correction

Dealers are to install a new ATF level gauge with the correct length.
