This bulletin is being revised to add the 2007 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-07-30-030 (Section 07 -- Transmission/Transaxle).
Teardown investigations of Aisin Remanufactured Transmissions have identified a small possibility for water to enter through the transmission fluid level indicator tube joint as shown above.
Investigation revealed that unusual tube alignment, mis-installed, damaged or missing O-rings at the fluid level indicator tube joint after transmission replacement or transmission oil pan R&R during service work may allow water to enter the transmission.
Isuzu has provided shrink tubing to improve the water resistant seal of the transmission fluid level indicator tube.
Whenever replacement of an Aisin Automatic transmission is necessary or the transmission oil pan is removed for repair and/or service, install this shrink tubing (1) over the fluid level indicator tube joint as shown above.
