Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 689675  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  3. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  4. Important: The clutch actuator hose can remain connected to the clutch actuator. Disconnecting the hose from the clutch actuator will allow the hydraulic fluid to drain from the hydraulic system.

  5. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder bolts. Do not disconnect the hose from the actuator.
  6. Remove the clutch actuator cylinder.

  7. Object Number: 696800  Size: SH
  8. Remove the front oil seal using J 23907 (2) and J 44748 (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 694468  Size: SH
  1. Position the NEW seal in the front case with the part number facing out.
  2. Using J 44731 install the input shaft seal.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Position the clutch actuator cylinder.
  5. Install the clutch actuator cylinder bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  7. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  8. Install the rear propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  9. Check the transmission fluid level. Add if necessary.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
