Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  4. For all 15 series vehicles, relieve the tension from the park brake cable by pulling down on the park brake cable in front of the equalizer then removing the cables from the equalizer bar.
  5. For 25/35 series vehicles, disable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .

  7. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
  8. Remove the left side hinge pillar panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
  9. Remove the MID-bussed electrical center from the bracket.
  10. Disconnect the park brake warning lamp connection.

  12. Remove the park brake release handle bolts.

  14. Remove the park brake lever mounting nuts.

  15. Object Number: 913310  Size: SH
  16. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the park brake lever.
  17. Remove the park brake lever.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the front park brake cable to the park brake lever.

  2. Object Number: 376012  Size: SH
  3. Install the park brake lever.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the park brake lever mounting nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the park brake release handle bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Connect the park brake warning lamp connector.
  10. Install the MID-bussed electrical center to the bracket.
  11. Install the left side hinge pillar panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
  12. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  14. For 15 series vehicles, install the park brake cable to the equalizer by pulling down on the park brake cable in front of the equalizer then installing the cable to the equalizer bar.
  15. For 25/35 series vehicles, enable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .
  16. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
