J 39200 Digital Multimeter

1. Inspect the routing of the wires. Improper routing can cause crossfiring.
2. Inspect each wire for any signs of cracks or splits in the wire.
3. Inspect each boot for the following signs:

•

Tears

•

Piercing

•	Arc through

•	Carbon tracking

4. If the boot needs to be replaced, twist the boot a half turn in either direction in order to break the seal before pulling on the boot in order to remove the wire.

1. Disconnect both ends of each wire. Ensure the wire terminals are clean.
2. Set an ohmmeter on the high scale and connect the ohmmeter to each end of the wire being tested. Twist the wire gently while watching the ohmmeter.
3. Replace the wire under the following conditions:

•	The ohmmeter reads above 30,000 ohms (no matter how long the wire is)

•	Fluctuates from infinity to any value
