NEW VIP OVERNIGHT SERVICE PARTS DELIVERY PROGRAM

MODELS: ALL TRUCKS

Guaranteed overnight delivery of General Motors Service Parts became available in July, 1989 to most GMC Truck Dealers within the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) via Federal Express (reference GMSPO bulletin I.B. No. 89-92). This GMC Truck Service Bulletin is sent to you as a reminder of its availability.

Details of the new service are as follows:

* Most U.S. cities receive next day service. Only a few locations (See Exhibit A) receive second or third day delivery.

* Dealers are assessed for the overnight service by shipment weight based on the attached Rate Schedule (See Exhibit B). Shipments are prepaid and normal VIP surcharges apply.

* Shipments are made from the parts plants. If material is not available at the parts plants, orders are processed as normal VIPs using existing carriers. SPAC is to advise the dealership that overnight delivery cannot be accommodated.

* Orders for overnight delivery must be placed via telephone only thru SPAC (1-800-433-6961). In most cases, SPAC Telephone Agents are able to advise availability when orders are placed. RAPID, RAPID Plus and GM Tracs CANNOT be used to place VIP overnight orders.

* All other VIP orders should continue to be placed in the normal manner.

* Qualifying orders submitted to SPAC by 5:00 p.m. EST/EDT will receive guaranteed next day delivery by 5:00 p.m. local time.

* Dealers overnight shipments (including second or third day shipments) that are not delivered on time will have the VIP surcharge and overnight freight charge reimbursed. Dealers are to use a Manual PC31 claim attached to the original packing slip to request reimbursement. The notation, Reimbursement of "VIP surcharge/overnight freight" and "VIP" Overnight Tracking number 'XXX-XXXX-XXX" are to be provided in the COMMENT section of the PC31 (See Exhibit C). The tracking number is located on the package next to the address label, and on the Federal Express Delivery Record (See Exhibit D).

* Dealers must file a PC65 Customer Transportation Claim with their Administrative PDC for damaged containers/contents and shipments lost in transit. The dealers must also enter the tracking number in either the Freight Bill or Delivery Receipt No. Field of the PC65.

* Please call Federal Express (1-800-238-5355)for prompt tracing of missing shipments after obtaining the tracking number from SPAC.

* C.O.D. Shipments, Hazardous Materials, Will Call, No Part Number (NPN), As Required (AR), Not to Be Published (NTBP), Request For Inspection (RFI), and Ship Direct Orders will not be included in this program. Also, dealers will no longer be able to specify Same Day or Next Day service on CIO orders.

Packages must not exceed Federal Express' Length, Girth, and Weight restrictions to qualify for overnight delivery.

- Maximum weight per piece cannot exceed 150 pounds.

Example categories of parts that do not meet Federal Express size and weight requirements are:

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
