Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 742176  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the CKP sensor bolt (2).
  5. Remove the CKP sensor (1).
  6. If necessary, remove the CKP sensor spacer bolts.
  7. If necessary, remove the CKP sensor spacer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 742176  Size: SH
  1. If necessary, lubricate a NEW CKP spacer O-ring with clean engine oil.
  2. If necessary, install the NEW O-ring to the CKP sensor spacer.
  3. Important: The crankshaft position sensor spacers are machined with different timing positions. However, if the crankshaft position sensor spacer requires replacement, replace with a grade "B" spacer.

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. If necessary, install the CKP sensor spacer.
  5. If necessary, install the CKP sensor spacer bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Lubricate a NEW CKP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
  8. Install the NEW O-ring to the CKP sensor (1).
  9. Install the CKP sensor bolt (2).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  13. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
