Operate the courtesy lamps to verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Remove the courtesy lamp relay

Are the courtesy lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 8

Important: The courtesy lamps must be in the OFF position, the doors closed, and 60 seconds must pass before testing this circuit.

Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp relay coil control circuit of the courtesy lamp relay connector and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Test the courtesy lamp switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the courtesy lamp relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to ground in the courtesy lamp relay low control circuit.
